Just show the $50 and ask if there's anything they can do to get the fees waived. They usually don't take the tip if they can't perform what you asked. Kind of an unwritten rule.

I always give the person at check in a $20-$50 tip at the Venetian and ask them to waive my resort fee and they always do it.

Just be careful booking those flights. I know that most charge for carry-ons and checked bags. Spirit I think allows for 1 personal item, anything else is an up charge.
