Never had issue for mold. Although if it happens, just soak overnight in vinegar and rinse it with soap water. Very good cold water bottle. Also use 30% coupon code and get it for $6.85

I have the one pictured and no mold. I wash the lid in the dishwasher and handwash the bottle itself. The lid has a o-ring seal that you don't want to use in the wash, though.
