I was being a little sarcastic of course. I do occasionally strop with my belt. I have a diamond sharpener for when I really need to nail it, but I've found the bottom of a coffee mug actually does...

After paying Amazon their cut and shipping charges with still some profit left, wonder what wholesale cost actually is? Nevertheless, it seems like a good deal in comparison to what is out there....

For those that want a better quality whetstone, look into the shapton ones...they're by no means high end ones, but much better than the double sided generic crap.

After some use your whetstone will develop wear, usually a depression in middle or sloping to one side. It needs to be flattened to correct it.

A knife sharpener is different than a strop or steel. One actually removes material the other straightens the edge. If you've been only using a piece of ceramic for years your knife isn't all that...

Thus set is sold by multiple sellers on Amazon. These will work for knife sharpening but not for plane blade that needs absolute flatness. These stones got out of flat relatively easily. The...

I have a 800 Naniwa and a 1000/6000 combo King and 99% of the time I only use my 6000. 400/1000 is overkill if you take care of your knives and had them properly sharpened once.

Picked one of these up as a beginner stone and the grits are pretty inconsistent, and the accessories are pretty useless. I recommend picking up a KING KW65, still a combination stone (1000/6000),...

I don't have this one, I do have a similar one though. It works OK. The "flattening stone" looks worthless though. A proper flattening stone needs to be larger than the stone you're trying to flatten...

No. Ceramic is extremely hard and brittle. You could probably do it with some care and a diamond sharpening stone.

The Worksharp Precision Adjust system makes sharpening dead simple. I just wish their stones were large enough to do a chefs knife in 1 pass.
