I was able to get the layered black/clear case w/a switched PSU for $10 FWIW. (I think 3 heatsinks instead of 4 but keeps pretty cool)) I think it may go for more now though.

You can run pi-hole comfortably on pi zero. If you don't mind going wireless, get the pi zero w. If you want ethernet, just get cheapest pi with an ethernet port. You won't feel much difference...

After you set up your pihole and connect it to your network. You can set your device to use the pi as DNS or set your router to point your lan to pihole as DNS.

You'd buy a case like this specifically if you want active cooling. There are other options for passive cooling, but there will be some thermal limitations depending on your planned uses for the Pi4.

I have had my Pi for 3 years as a media center. I have to unplug it every time to shut the power off because no shut off switch. Never had an issue with any SD data corruption.
