SSD=solid state device. No moving parts. HDD=Hard disk drive. Spinning magnetic plates usually slower data transfer than ssd.

I'm a data recovery tech. I'd recommend these drives way before most others. Current 1-2 TB seagate portables are horrible, and LaCie portables have the same. All portable WD drives are much more...

If the BB deal is still going for the WD 5TB @ $95 I would go with that instead of the Seagate drive. I have three WD portables (2 1TB, 1 2TB) and also have a 4 TB Seagate and even though I have the...

Not quite the same price per TB. The Costco Seagate 5TB portable for $89.99 is $2 cheaper per TB than the Newegg 4TB Toshiba portable is at $79.99. Seagate $18 per TB, Toshiba $20 per TB. Note...

Might as well get the 5tb from Costco(same price per tb), better warranty and return policy. Hate Newegg

I didn't think a Pi would power this. That's pretty cool.

I bought one of these a few years ago for storage on my Raspberry Pi media center and it's been steady as a rock. Not the fastest but it's a platter drive so that figures.

No. The Newegg sale price for them should be a dead giveaway that they're not SSD drives. One major negative with these Toshiba Canvio Basic drives is the 1 year warranty. WD and Seagate portable...
