Well, it has been that long since I have bought a Mac. Serials use to have an indicator before the serial once refurbished. Looks like that changed, not sure if they do it with phones anymore either.

They are sold as refurbished with new refurbished serial numbers and verification shows full warranty same as new. So, I am not sure how you use the serial number to establish they are not new.

it varies. sometimes they are just returns. sometimes they had a defect that was repaired. you never really know. I will say I have never been disappointed with an official Apple refurb.

I would prefer the Mac Mini over the Apple TV. I don’t see any point of Apple TV when Macs can open up a larger app ecosystem than these idevices. The price is the only differentiating factor.
