Just don’t use Cintas. According to our salesman it’s cheaper to buy a new one than to have mine recharged (by them). He also said he’s a bad salesman.

This is patently false. A simple Google search yields results for dozens of companies across the United States that will recharge residential fire extinguishers for around $15–$20.

Water damage is often more extensive than fire/smoke. And then there's that whole electrical or chemical (or magnesium) fire issue.
