I can't speak specifically to Chase, but Amex and Citi have applied their extended warranties after Applecare ends, with the caveat that the extended warranty is for the standard Apple warranty terms...

Yeah, there is no logic to redeeming the points for products, even with this discount. Just pay yourself the 1.5 cents per point and buy your desired apple product and have cash left over.
