$40 GX2 combo all the time. The reel is just garbage, GX2 rod is really a stiff stick. I don't think this is even a fair deal.

If you are surf fishing, you will need at least 8 ft rod. If you want something cheap, maybe look into the Penn combo, it is about $100. or get one of those H2O surf rod, they are super cheap, but...

Why would an Ugly Stik UL be good? The only thing Ugly Stik does great at is durability. The sensitivity is awful on an Ugly Stik which seems counterintuitive for an UL rod.
