I used both Chase.com and the app both give me the same result, you click on the charge that you made and scroll down to the bottom and you will see your 1% earned on all purchases along with 4%...

Why not just buy physical plastic Walmart gift cards online with your Walmart credit card and get 5% cashback. Then use those gift cards in store, and save the PayPal 5% for something with PayPal?

Chase specifically says you can't double up on these 5% categories. But some products come with rebates or store promos so you could double up that way. See above.

Never thought of that approach! 5% to do any sort of real hassle-minor as it be is fairly meh though when the other CCs are regular 2 to 3%.

I don’t think you can buy gift card with credit card. You will need to use debit card or cash.
