I can't imagine buying a 720p TV in this decade(720p was obsolete before 2010), let alone paying as much as a larger 4K Smart TV. What would you even use this for? Displaying lyrics for karaoke...

Ehhh that’s arguable. The difference from 720p to 1080p is pretty huge. At this size it would be more significant than going from 1080p to 4K. But you can certainly tell the difference.

No need for 720p ever. I have an old projector that is 1024 x 768, and paired with a firestick it is nice. Yes 32” at 720 but I say hold out for 1080. Unless this is a gift for your mother in law...
