Yes, the springs are the counterbalance so the opener really doesn't have to work as much. I'll also be changing the door and springs in my new place - currently they have extension springs........

They also make the LiftMaster brand. I have a shit Craftsman that I installed in 1993 and last week I just put in a gear kit. That's pretty good after 29 years and a 1/3 HP opener on a double door.
