Considering they have one of the highest cancellation rates (if not the highest now) I would say often enough that you should have a plan B in place just in case.

I would never fly Allegiant again. My return flight got delayed 3 times, and ended up being cancelled. Next available flight was 2 days away. One and done with this airline. Fly at your own risk.

Allegiant's planes have issues where the engine's exhaust comes into the cabin.

I'd rather fly Allegiant than southwest. I always get priority and pre buy the bags, it's so cheap anyways and the experience is again, ahead of southwest on the early bird or business side imo.

Only issue with Allegiant is if your flight get cancelled you are pretty much screwed. I had a friend who flight got cancelled 3 days before his trip. He ended up not going cause airfare is crazy...
