No they do not waive annual fees, but I've heard they have a lot of pull in getting you thru approval hurdles, like low scores, 5/24 and 2/30 rules breaches, etc.

It depends what you want from the card. The fee on the more expensive priority card is $149 but you get back a $75 travel credit and 7500 anniversary points. It can sort of pay for itself.
