Sure. Light bleed and dirty screen effect are expected to a degree but mine was SO BAD it was definitely a factory issue. Doesn't change the fact google OS is pretty bad.

So... picked up one of these today as my 13(?) year old 1080p LG 55" went out on us.

Just buy a ROKU and attach it to the TV and don't bother with Google TV. I did the same but also have the option to switch to Google TV for a few streaming apps that just aren't available for the ROKU

I use the TV operating system just to control the TV and plug in a stick or a shield for apps and content. I don't connect it to the network either. It keeps the tv OS clean and responsive.

Any LG TV that isn't OLED has bright grey "blacks", a terrible contrast ratio due to IPS design. I would take a cheap VA panel over a cheap IPS (or even an expensive IPS?) any day.
