Right, so if the fund was to lose money, you wouldnt not be reimbursed for your loses. Unlike the other investments I mentioned (cds, t-bills, and money market accounts).

Just FYI, if you're paying 3rd party prices your price is more like $98.27 (vs. $100) so you're really only getting 3.6% on a 5.4% T-bill.
e.g. - 1 bond = $1000, ask is at 98.296 on a bond yield...

You would have to pay on a savings account anyway. The way I see it the extra interest you make with 4.9% gets you closer to tax free.

Just buy money market funds that mandate to invest in government / agency securities. VUSXX at vanguard generates over 5.15% doing this, no reason to mess around with cusips or CDs
