If it's important to you, Royal Oak only uses oak dust and a vegetable (corn, potato, etc) starch as a binder. Kingsford has both and also with lime, borax, and actual mined coal.

In my opinion, the is the best big brand of lump charcoal. Kingsford is fine but I prefer this. Cowboy is best avoided, as the couple times I've bought it there was a ton of dust and multiple rocks...

Really good product at a really great price for what you get in today's day and age. Kingsford professional is around $20-22 for 36 lbs. I would consider this a superior product.

Bought four bags a few weeks ago. Produces a lot of fine ash. So much ashes that you can’t smoke meat using the serpentine method because it can close off the vent openings. Lights quickly, burns...
