You can't just swap in a schlage cylinder, the front end is a little narrower. I just tried. So I ended up rekeying the cylinder. It's pretty easy, same as any schlage

Not necessarily. I had Duracell AAs that leaked acid all over my expensive Kwikset locks and ruined them. 9v batteries usually do not leak acid.

None of this is a problem if the lock and door are installed properly. If your door isn't installed properly, no automated solution is going to work.
