Picked one of these up and I'll probably return it, not sure if mine is defective but it will transfer for about 1 min at 50mbps and then drops to sub 1mbps speeds for about 3 min and bounces back...

it should as im using a very old rebranded HP stick. about being slow, keep in mind that viewing videos from a stick take a couple of seconds longer and not as fast as from the cloud.
