Yes they can. There's just a bit more breathing room with the 3/4 than the 1/2". I like to use the 3/4 more on 12/4 romex.

I would not use a staple like that on wiring -- too much risk of crimping the wire. Klein does make a nice staple gun compatible with insulated staples similar to these though but it's a bigger...
