Hmm I can’t remember and haven’t started this year yet. I want to say you can, but it’s watermarked so you can’t submit it without paying, but not sure about that. Let us know if you find out.

I would try it in FreeTaxUSA because they will definitely let you see the forms any time. Intuit usually won't show you the forms until you pay, but not sure how that would turn out with the free...

I would search on the Bogleheads forum or ask there. This blog post doesn't show the forms, but it does show how different tax software handles it, as well as several comments on the topic.

I think they allow it in order to simplify the filling process. If you have a lot of transactions to file that is. It certainly saved me time.
