Updated the OP to reflected changes in the D3 line. Now all D3 cookware has flared rims.

I've had really good luck with the factory seconds and have ordered 4 items. Until now... my recent order was for 8-inch fry pans, seconds. The BD3 3-ply all-clad was fine with just a minor blemish....
