The bigger news is the removal of remote playback which makes this a pretty big cash grab on their part. It sounds like there will be workarounds that may still work but they're going to paywall off...

Wow. I paid $75 ages ago for lifetime. Plex is good but not great and they haven't improved the DVR in years. No way I would pay those new prices.

They added an aggregate feature for streaming services that works moderately well.
You add all your streaming accounts to their interface and it tries to give you a one stop shop experience.

I second the switch to Jellyfin. I have the lifetime plexpass. I saw the money grab they are heading towards and switched. Haven't looked back. It works well.

As long as you are either paying for Plex Pass or have a lifetime subscription, anyone you share with is unaffected and does not need a subscription from what I can tell.
