A quick google search shows that the HP 6710 is a notebook. If thats the case, then no, this memory won't work. WB

Good price, but not sure what to make of the reviews. Seems to indicate that these are really 1333 sticks and 1600 speeds are only achieved through OC'ing.

(5) 5-star reviews on TigerDirect, but the reviewers on Newegg seemed to struggle with them. One reviewer noted the need to use the XMP setting in the BIOS. Maybe that's part of it?

Really don't need this, but for $45, I won't complain. Don't care about running @ 1600MHz at all, doesn't translate into huge performance gains and speaking as a mobo hardware engineer, it's more...

Worked for me. Did you get the email with the coupon this morning? I believe only people who got the email can use the coupon. You probably only get the emails if you're on their mailing list.
A little help please: What do I look for to tell if this is compatible with my computer? (HP 6710) Thanks!

yes just be sure your motherboard can actually support 1600 ram otherwise it will just downgrade the speed.

^ It says they are designed for the 2nd gen intel processors. I'm assuming it will still work fine with others?

wait, but if you are on a z68/p67/z77 mobo, you can run the 1600...even with the i3.

I am referring to the people saying they don't FEEL that their computer is faster with more bandwidth. That is the reason why, because their computer downclocks on them such that the increased...

I think I solved the problem. It seems the memory may not have been at fault. The stick that had passed earlier gave errors. It could have been the motherboard. I tried upping the DDR voltage...

Yeah, they are staggered. I'd have to check on the timing, no idea how to set that up or run memtest.

Earlier I may have spoken too soon. My ubuntu 12.04 desktop installed with 32GB of this ram was getting random freezes due to graphics hangs. I spent a lot of time reading ubuntu forums...

Ah, Gooood question. a CPU today is mostly obsolete within 2-3 years. That is already a long time. Even if the chip can live for 10 years, and is now reduced to 3 years through overclocking, it...

i have to disagree. i wouldn't say beyond 3 years is a "minority". I know a lot of people tend to keep their computers roughly 4-5 years, given that there's no need for unnecessary upgrade. most...

It's the voltage range at which your motherboard should be running the ram at. Most if not all mb manufacturers list approved tested ram for their specific model boards. It's still hit or miss, I've...

Slick Deal, in for 1. Hopefully a little cheaper with some cash back on another deal site, and it ups my RAM from 6GB to 16GB; can't beat that with a stick.

that's not a valid argument for anything, and it's not even logical. because you don't need maximum memory bandwidth at eist-limited cpu frequencies.
