cool was able to add it to a second account with the same card. An old account that is linked to my android amazon appstore, did free trial of prime, added my discover card then added the promo.

Didn't work for me. I clicked the button to add the promo, but it doesn't add in cart. I did a 1-click order too with the discover card and cancelled it because the promo didn't apply
