Turning off their spam was very easy. I couldn't stop the auto-renewal right after buying but I could stop the emails.

I got 2 emails from them confirming my subscription. I logged in and cancelled ALL emails from them but there was no way to cancel auto-renew. They tell you how on the FAQ but the link they describe...

Not by law. It's offered by some banks and credit unions, with whatever restrictions they feel like enforcing. Credit card protections are mandated. They can add extra, but they can't do less.
