What are you talking about? The vast majority of server CPUs have hyperthreading capabilities. E3-1225 v3 is a fine CPU without it as long as it meets your needs.

you can use regular DDR3 RAM on this, I have 4 x T20, no issue of using regular desktop RAM on it. need to burn some promo GC, hope it gets down to $250 this weekend.

This is a solid server, I use VMWare EXSI 6.5, 5TB 7200rpm HGST hdds and use it to run Plex. It runs very quiet and the loudest part are the HDDs.
