I am never buying ecovacs again
.I have their 950 and it has been returned 4 times already. T broke again after a year and no longer covered under warranty. It's a waste of $400+! Ecovacs app is horrible and their units usually have the radar errors, which needs a complete replacement.
Use an eligible citi card - they add 24 months of warranty on top of the mfg warranty. Citi Doublecash and Dividend DO NOT offer this anymore. Citi costco, rewards+, premier, etc do offer this
So you will have 3 years of warranty using a citi card. I gave up 5% cash back off Freedom + paypal for that. If you DO use a freedom, you will still have an added 1 year of warranty from Chase
There are a lot of issues with the self emptying on this machine - which is a big reason why people would want this over S5 Max, etc. If you have thick carpets / pet hair - be prepared for the self emptying not to work a lot because it's too thick to get sucked into the bin. Also the whole needing to buy special bags for the bin is not great.

How is this compared to the S5 Max?
Its better IMO - Ive been testing both. Watch the videos I linked above.
Pros of the S5 Max:
- slightly better house navigation
- better app experience
Cons of S5 Max:
- Price to performance no longer the best with the T8+ on sale at $450
- the bin is small and you have to empty it yourself after each run
- Airflow is not as good as the T8
Pros of the T8+:
- self empting is awesome
- object avoidance is a god send with dog toys (and possibly poop) and cables lying around
- optional Ozmo pro attachment will mop the floor way better than the standard cloth attachment of the s5 Max
Cons of the T8+:
- Carpet sensor is sometimes annoying since it detects my gym mats as carpet and refuses to mop it
- app experience is lacking

The extended return period is a plus! Only concern is that credit card will provide 2nd gear warranty and Best Buy plans are pretty expensive

Bingo! Thanks for the reminder on the Costco Citi card! Cancelled and purchased with it for 3 total year coverage!

yep, I believe the Roomba had the same issue. If the bin is too full, it has a hard time or wont successfully empty it. If you have a lot of pet or human hair, they all recommend to run it more often to avoid this issue or a full bin midway through your run
Bought this for 699 less than a month ago, but already out of return period. This seems to be considered major appliance purchase and fall under 15 day return is that true? How are people going about a price adjustment?
Also since I got it, I never seen it using the auto empty bin and the auto empty feature doesn't seem to work at all, I have to manually empty the bin.

Maybe call Best buy to see if they can make an exception. If not, check your credit card benefits for either Price match gaurantee (not common anymore) or return protection (which is more common, should be up to 90 days)
it will only auto empty if it goes back to the dock itself. If you manually have to move it back to the dock, it wont empty. Im hoping they just add a damn button to manually empty it. I think the T8 AIVI has this, so it might be a firmware difference at this point

Thanks, I do find the vac back at the home when I check on it, even then I usually see most of the bin still full... The auto empty bin's LED is off all the time (except when first plugged in, it is white).

check if the cliff sensors on the bottom are blocked at all. I manually taped them to have it better navigate on my black gym mats but it caused it to never auto empty for some reason. After I removed the tape, it empties everytime it goes back to the dock on itself, after a cleaning is complete
