is there a whole lot of difference between the first and second generation nest?

I know the new version is a little thinner but both versions can be upgraded to the 3.0 software. I believe the newer version is compatible with more types of heating and cooling systems.

ScoobyVick is right on. Both the original nest and newest version released a few weeks ago can run on the same software. The major differences are in the design. The newest one has a different layout for connector points allowing it to be compatible with a wider selection of HVAC systems. Also the nest is now thinner because it is a singular production piece like how Apple has streamlined their laptops out of unibody design.

I tested my neighbors original nest on my system and found it is compatible and so I am eagerly awaiting for this deal to go live.

Have 2 of the original version installed in my home. Fantastic little devices. Nice to be able to view their status and control them from my smartphone. Installation is basically idiot proof! (until they build a bigger idiot that is) FWIW

I have one that I'm selling. Brand new in box. $200 in houston only. Cheaper than lowes (no tax).

Almost the same price as amazon when you factor in tax from lowes.

On the ad scan, it shows that the price is valid from 11/22-11/26. I'm assuming that means they are open on Thanksgiving day?
