Thread Details
I recently decided to stain a new cedar fence that I had built. While looking online for an easy way to stain the fence I came upon a company called 5-minute fence. The company sells a fence stain that is a container that you hook up to your garden hose turn on the water and the stain and water mix and you spray it on the fence. Sounds pretty easy. There web site has a demo video showing it being applied and it looked like a good deal. $119.95 for 2 bottles of stain and free shipping. I was sold. After maiking the purchase I talked to a painter I met at the local hardware store and he told me that if I wanted it done right I shouldnt take shortcuts. He said to go by a oil based stain and apply it with a pump up sprayer. I decided to take his advice. It worked out great. The job was done in about 2 hours for 225 feet of fence.
Anyway when I received the 5-minute stain I immediately took the package to the UPS store and returned it to the company with the RMA number they provided me.
Well its been over a month now and I have not recieved my money back, they will not respond to my e-mails, and they wont return my calls. I checked them out on the BBB site (which I should have done in the first place) and found that they have an "F" rating due to complaints such as mione. So beware of this company they will take your money and if you decide you are not happy with the product you will never see your money again.

I am listing this thread on every DIY site I can find. It may only be $119.95 but I will get the word out there that this company is not to be trusted.

If their product really is that good they shouldnt ruin their reputation by having lousy customer service and promptly issuing refunds when their products are returned.
Honestly I can't _imagine_ why people use debit cards - you forgo so much protection it's not even funny!
What they fail to mention is clean up is NOT a snap. Overspray onto neighbor houses, concrete and sheds do NOT come off. Im writing the company now to see if they have a product to remove these stains but Im sure they do not. The container I purchased did NOT say you have to remove overspray IMMEDIATELY. This is horrible !!

I've never understood why people want to use debit cards and allow companies to dip right into their bank accounts.
