Western Digital® My Passport™ Ultra 4TB Portable 2.5" External Hard Drive, 64MB Cache, WDBFTM0040BSL-WESN, Silver
Item # 6606952

OD reference link - https://www.officedepot.com/a/pro...Ultra-4TB/

BS - https://brickseek.com/office-depo...ku=6606952

This is the newer 2019 model that is half silver/half black, it has a USB-C to USB-C cable with a USB-C to USB-A 3.1 adapter.

A pretty good price, a bit lower than current 1TB/2TB prices.

EXTREME YMMV - my area had ONE store that said it had ONE in stock according to the OD app and online checking (at $129.99), BS also reported 1 for that store (at $51.93), but on the way there, BS changed to Out of Stock while the OD app continued to report one in stock (at $129.99).

It was not in the clearance section, it was in the lockup behind the registers (some stores have a separate lockup room, ask if it's in there).

As usual with low stock items, don't rely on BS stock listings OR the OD app to be correct, so don't make a trip just for this.

EDIT: For the so many that are commenting on price - the app and online listed the FULL $129.99 price for me, BS showed the clearance price until it thought they were all gone, then it listed $129.99. IT TAKES SCANNING IT WITH THEIR SCAN TOOL OR AT THE REGISTER TO SEE THE CLEARANCE PRICING FOR YOUR AREA if BS says they are OOS or the app/online lists the full price.

For those bound to ask, this is not a drive to buy to remove from the case for other uses. The drive motherboard does not have a SATA connector, it has only the USB-C connector that the cable connects directly to.

Thanks, picked up the last one in the Woodlands.
It was locked up in a cabinet and not advertised in store.

Are you able to do return/rebuy with OD like you can with other retailers?

No great surprise that it's OOS at $13!

$x.00 usually means manager override pricing IIRC, and I can't imagine WHY something this useful could get to that point unless they were overstocked in the dozens or hundreds.

Is this a 2.5 or 3.5" drive?

I show one 50 miles south of Dallas, but that's a long drive for a long shot.

Anyone have an idea why 4tb hard drives have not just hit $50 price mark yet as a regular price? It feels like I''ve been waiting for them to hit this price forever. I only see 2TB normally priced at $50 and even those have yet to drop in prices too.

What? I just bought a 4TB portable one from OD just 3 weeks ago at this price and thought it was a price mistake. Now another pops up? I don't have that kind of money.

Same thing goes for the 6 and 8tb, they should be 79-99 bucks, since they stayed at that 159-200 price point for almost 2 years.

I have really mixed feelings about portable drives this big. Accidents do happen and 4 TB is a ton of stuff to lose. OK for tv shows movies and the like but archival stuff? No no. I hear too many sad stories. Use the cloud. Getting cheap, there's redundancy and your treasures are just a click away as long as you have an Internet connection. I use drives this big for junk mainly and 1 of 4 have failed. Warranties don't replace the contents of the drive.
I'm totally cool with random companies going thru my files too... And having all my data on a web facing server... And trusting a profit dependant corp to guard my data and not exploit it... Oh, and those fun user agreements that guarantee nothing and prevent you from suing or having any recourse at all... Cloud sounds great! Now if only there was government cloud!
