iPhone 11 is 50% off at AT&T, which drops the monthly device payment for the phone from $23.34 to $11.67. As a bonus, you'll be able to claim $150 Visa Reward Card by activating the phone on an Unlimited plan. Coming in at a total of $350 after the 30 monthly payments
Looks like a really good deal? Even choosing another color and adding 128GB instead of the 64 is still pretty cheap. Does anyone know if you can drop down to a cheaper plan at some point in the 30 month agreement? What about insurance, good idea or a waste of money?
Stacking $150 Visa card and $350 (50% off) brings the iPhone 11 64GB price to $200. Isn't it? Sounds similar to iPhone SE deal only better (if you don't mind the problems below)
It should be a new line
50% off is granted as bill credit over a period of 30 months.
You can't pay off or cancel the line within this period
Plan has to be ATT Unlimited. I think the basic one is Unlimited Started pack
One of the reasons I moved to Verizon, 24 months instead of 30 months. These extra long payment plans are getting ridiculous.
I remember in the olden days you could get a 2-year contract and pay $100 for a new iPhone every two years, get a company discount on your line rental and no upgrade fee. Now you pay full price for a phone and no discount on the increased line fees.
You should check out how much a phone costs in the UK to see how much of a rip-off US carriers are:
$60 up front then $71 a month for 2 years. Unlimited data, hotspot and world wide roaming.
ATT unlimited starter $1,760 total out of pocket with iPhone 11
three.co.uk unlimited $1,764 total out of pocket with iPhone 11 (plus advantage of hotspot)
Overall not a bad deal. I usually flip flop between T-Mobile and AT&T to get discounts on phones, service quality and rates are similar enough. With 5 lines/phones end up saving ~$2500 usually every 2.5 years.
