I have the v11(pretty much the same as the v10 with maybe a little more power) and it does a great job with mix use. I have mostly hardwoods, area rugs and vinyl plank. I do think the soft roller head is a great to have attachment for hard surfaces but it's not a must have.

Last one I got was the v5 and it's still running strong but gave it to my parents to use. Been waiting for one to go on sale. Anyone has suggestions if v10 or v11 would be best?

Look at the LG A9 on ebay for 220 after coupon.. most reviews say A9 is better than V11.

V11 hands down. Is v10 bad? No both will meet all of our needs. I have a v8 and 2 Miele vacuums entire house central. All have their goods and bads. Yes v11 is better. How much better? Well for someone scraping pennies to pay bills and save with little cash flow v10 is great. For someone who has cash flow and it doesn't impact you 100 bucks certainly spend the loot. For me I would buy v10 and wait 5 years abs buy the next best. I would have 100 extra to pay for it. Smilie the soft roller is a must have in my opinion and the carpets

Don't know about the V10, but with V8 the regular direct drive head wacks a lot of particles out and away instead of picking them up. Really need the soft roller on hard floors.

Easy, I clean 3800 sq ft floors half carpet half hardwood, as long as your not a total pig and it's not crazy dirty then you might need two charges

Works very well. Struggles with high pile carpet but it does ok. Doesn't have as much suction as a wired vacuum unit, but it's not so far below that, that it really impacts cleaning. The portability is a big plus.

V8 does well too, v10 and v11 are the newer generation with noticeably more powerful suction. Anything below that I found to struggle with carpets (v7 and lower).

You'll want the soft brush head for the vinyl as the regular head just tends to smack stuff away on hardwood/vinyl/stone.

Seems like no one sells an adapter that passes through electricity (needed for the motorized heads), but if you have v7 or older accessories (which aren't compatible with the newer ones), get the official dyson quick release wand for the v8 and up, and then attach and tape the older accessory at the end. The wand itself is incompatible, but it makes enough contact on the electrical contacts to drive the older motorized heads. Just swap poles when you want to swap between different heads.
