This is a Mac for the Unknowing Masses or those who don't do much more than Internet surf, watch YouTube, making amateur videos to send to grandma and use office suites. There are many on Reddit forums kicking themselves for buying one and not paying the extra for a 16GB.
For anything needing lots of performance power or folks who like or need to have several apps open at once, the 8GB is a huge choke point.
I got the 8GB model, being new to the Mac world, it performs well for my use case. Heavy excel/office tools and safari browsing. Sure, I know I can do more with my 32GB RAM windows machine, but that's not the reason I got this Mac.
It all depends what you got it for.
