Duo has two 8TB drives in it. That's why the case is so wide. This is a single 16TB drive.
Suppose for raid, duo is needed. Is it a REALLY good price at 369?
If you want the convenience for a single box with two drives then perhaps but you can pick up two 8TB Easystores at Best Buy for $90 cheaper.
Thanks.. think I will wait for ds220+ sale again and do a proper NAS once and for all. Been on fence for past year, and will just do it.
Why is this product not good for nas?

I would get a Qnap and not look back, synology has such limited hardware for what they charge, with the only positive is the software raid it can generate using mixed capacity drives.
This would work fine for a NAS if you shucked it, but that does void warranty, also might have to make a power pin modification depending on the NAS box you go with.
18TB UK one has no warranty outside of the UK/Europe.
This one is good for a NAS. You would need to remove it (shuck it), and might need to cover up a power connector pin with a bit of tape. So long as you keep the case, you can put it back in there if you need to do a warranty replacement.

Looking back at your QNAP is advised with all of the security issues
