Very strange that Dewalt came out with a whole line of flexvolt landscaping tools, but then released a dual 20v lawnmower. Why no 60v lawnmower?
Wider comparability and presumably the peak output of 2 20v packs was enough to cover any realistic power consumption scenario for this size class of mower. The biggest advantage of a pair of flexvolts would be that the 9 or 12ah can probably peak at least double the current of the 10ah these come with (10 cell vs 15 cell, cell count alone adds 50% but using a smaller capacity individual cells almost always amounts to a significant boost in current discharge capability as well which both of those examples are also lower ah per cell due to their higher cell count).

I dunno, since a 2x 20V Max is exactly what I'm looking for since I'm already in the battery line. I just got back from Lowes where they only had Craftsman 2x V20 Max mowers (V20 Max is deliberately incompatible with 20V Max).

Maybe they just need to go ahead and make a DeWALT robo-mower since even a 20V Max 5AH would be good for that (doesn't have to do the whole yard in one pass).

So this is just bad advertising on DeWalts part. This is a 40v mower, it uses 2x20v batteries in series. Some of their models use a single 40v battery. None are actually running 20v.

With that said I bought a Greenworks 40v mower and snowblower a long while back (7+ years now) and once the batteries started to die I upgraded to a GreenWorks 60v mower and a 60v snowblower. Man there is a huge difference from 40v -> 60v. Like the 40v snowblower seemed like a toy compared to the 60v. Still single stage but I could get through slush and heavy snow that would cause the 40v to stall. Even though my trimmer, hedgers, and blower are all DeWalt 20v I can't imagine downgrading from the GreenWorks mower.

Now when DeWalt makes a 60v mower with standard 60v FlexVolt batteries I will buy that and upgrade my trimmer/blower to the 60v tools without a second through. Literally https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/imag...41/9e9.gif

It's really a 36v mower, since their "20V Max" batteries are really 18V nominal and everyone else uses the nominal voltage. Indeed, they aren't even allowed to use the "20V Max" marketing in much of the world, which is why you sometimes see the exact same DeWALT tool with "18V" on it.

DeWALT 20V Max batteries are equivalent to Milwaukee M18 and other 18v tool lines, so 2x is equivalent to 36v as these comparisons go.

Found this lawnmower at my local HD for $250. Issue was that the batteries were missing (ie. stolen according to the associate)
