This credit card is quite good, and I've been using it for several years now. It offers a 3% cash back on all online transactions, which is good for merchants not affiliated with specific reward categories. However, there is a downside: they impose interest charges on all purchases while a balance transfer is active. If you have a balance transfer active for 15 months, any purchases made during that period will accrue interest.. None of the other credit cards that I have do this. IMO, this drawback makes the card ineffective during the balance transfer period.

I've had this card for a long time, be warned that account support on them are a complete disaster. I still use it often for the cash back, but for anything with a sketchy merchant or any reasonably important purchase, I use a different card. Every dispute I've done with bofa has been denied after 60 - 75 days with no explanation. Once my card was stolen and used a few states away - even that dispute was denied.
Important data point for me, thanks.

This looks like a good card to replace my Citi Costco. All of my cards have been compromised at some point. Citi handled it. Discover handled it. Credit Union was a pain... its in the sock drawer now for backup only.

This is a good card. 0% apr for 15 months. Great arbitrage with 5% savings accounts now. The $200 and cash back categories are a nice bonus. Capital One denied me for the Quicksilver card, even though I have the Venture X. This card is basically the same.
This is only good for new starters who won't be spending a lot. The $2500 category limit is per quarter (3 months), so with normal spendings, this limit gets hit pretty fast!!! The only 1% after that sucks!!1

I have two of these cards and use them for all of my everyday purchases, then pay them off every month. So, I'm literally being paid to use them.

I usually keep my bonus cash back category set to online purchases, but I recently had a new furnace, AC, and water heater installed, so I switched the category to home improvement and made over $400 in cash back on that one purchase, alone. Since I have two of these cards, I was able to maximize my cash back by spreading the purchase over both cards and hitting up both of the $2,500 maximums on the bonus categories (since that's $2,500 in purchases which get the bonus cash back per *card*, not per person).

Was gonna ask this.. I've had BofA cashrewards card for 20 years. Pretty competitive on cashback. But never have any "bonus redemption" options or other enhancements to the 1 , 2 , 3 % cashback basically on earning or redeeming. Looong back I think they used to offer redemption bonus like 50% or something for short periods of time.

You need 100k cumulative in BoA accounts to turn 3% in a category into 5.25% in that category (or 1.5% on their unlimited cards into 2.625% on anything).

This can include $ invested in an IRA in Merrill Lynch which is prob. the most common way folks do it.

If you get 1M in there you get even higher status (and >5M higher still), but to be honest the extra perks are pretty lame (and don't increase CC rewards either) so 100k is the sweet spot.

I need a 0% apr card to put on some larger purchases. I already have one BOA credit card that I am not using. Would closing that card give me a higher credit line with a new BOA card?

I had a large purchase so I got this for the 0% APR for 15 months. I can pay off the balance, but I'm getting 4.5% in a HYSA instead.
