For only $11 though…. I'd rather get the K cpu knowing I could pull the GPU out and still have a bootable system (for whatever reason, testing, diag, letting a friend borrow the GPU, etc.)
I agree. $11 is not a big difference for majority of people so it's better to have it and rarely use rather than "I wish I paid $11 for troubleshooting".
Apparently, user benchmark website is a fanboy website that always shows AMD in unfavorable comparisons so I would be cautious about using them as a source of information.

That said, the gap may not be as big, but the 12700k is still faster than the 5700x. The 5700x from my understanding tends to compete with the i5 series, and it's kind of EOL CPU with new generation and socket out from AMD. Might be good performance vs bucks, but I'm not on top of these constant CPU model releases.

Man I would like the prices for the 13600 to go down in pricing. That would be awesome.

A fair assessment. I would also pay the extra cash to have the inboard graphics. I just happened to see that the KF was also on sale, so I wanted to let folks know here as opposed to creating a whole new thread.

Does anyone know how many streams the 12700k can handle? 4k plex streams that is? I can't find any write-ups on it but I see it has a UHD770.

It's been so long since I've upgraded my CPU & motherboard platform.

How would this compare to the ryzen 7 5700x posted on slickdeals just a few days ago for $160? It says it's expired but in actuality the vendor has been having stock become available again for small pockets of time since it was posted.

https://slickdeals.net/f/17056807-amd-ryzen-7-5700x-8-core-16-thread-unlocked-desktop-processor-160-free-shipping

I do have an AMD 6700xt graphics card I upgraded from last year's slickdeal's thread which has been working pretty good but now It just has me really wishing I've upgraded my whole system. I've read there's a benefit with sticking with an AMD CPU if you're using an AMD graphics card because you can enable "SAM" but some say it makes a large difference and some say it hardly helps at all. 🤷 This CPU appears to be faster than the 5700x after a quick google search: Would it be better to just upgrade to this intel CPU platform regardless of that possibility of enabling SAM?

Yeah I came across that same website when I did a google search.I suppose it's self-explanatory, that this processor would be faster in general since It's significantly more expensive. I suppose the ryzen 7 5700x would be more comparable to this deal here: https://slickdeals.net/f/17069782-intel-core-i5-12600k-desktop-processor-153-free-shipping?page=2#commentsHeader

I was just hoping to hear if there's any real value in sticking with an AMD platform if SAM actually makes that big of a difference. I've been watching some youtube videos, trying to make sense of all these processors and it would seem there's some benefits of going with Intel with their integrated GPU if you do a lot of content creation which I have started to dabble with actually. But in gaming performance, besides the occasional specific games that favor Intel more, AMD cpus hit above their weight class... And also AMD motherboards seem a bit cheaper, in general too for some reason.
