Deal History
Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
launch price was 300 but irrelevant now, its nowhere near end of its life, its simply the "budget" option, accessories are cheap, and provides excellent value for newcomers or casual users. Q3 is way overpriced for what it is, not worth more than 2.5x the price but premium device at a premium price. you are most likely better off getting the 2 and hold out until 3 drops in price likely in a couple years to around 300
To be fair, if you're gonna pay $200 now, buy the 3 a few years from now at $300, you're still at $500 and used an inferior product for 2-3 years. If you're dipping your toes this is a smart strategy to test things out. If you're already sold on VR, then maybe not.
Good point. One counter point is that you will have a Quest 2 AND Quest 3 so will be able to have an extra headset to play multiplayer or sell for a hundo...

Launch price is not a deal on a system at the end of its lifecycle.

aim for the quest 3, even the lizard man says its better than the pro
I got this at Target for roughly $180+tax (after $50 gc and $20 savings) - do I really need to spend triple that if I'm just getting into VR, casually?

The point of my comment is you are giving yourself options by going with the 2 and I feel like those who debate which one to get don't have either . For those folks the answer will most likely always be get the 2 now, unless you've demoed both and you made up your mind about the 3. If you already own the 2 then your decision is most likely much easier
Bought this at a similar price on Amazon and it was well worth it. I've been interested in VR for years but never had the mindset to spend the $$ on top of already having a higher end gaming PC as a hobby. I've had a blast in just a few days. The fact that I can direct connect to my PC and play games I already own that support VR on top of the current 40% off games in the oculus store, made it a steal. Outside of the motion sickness lol.
If you are debating between this and the oculus quest 3, then the quest 2 is ment for you. I cannot see a real justification for the quest 3 with the current price, availability in games, and minor upgrades it provides unless you are hard set on the latest and greatest VR and nothing else matters.
