Yeah, these are most likely the problematic ones for sure, but for a temp transfer drive or whatnot.... I just pulled the trigger, knowing full well what it could be... will return if I change my mind, but this is kinda one of those slick deals buy now, think about later at $159.....

yeah, these drives seem to come with some risk absolutely.

I have been researching lately on different storage solutions, and one thing about this line is that no one really seems to have nailed down what the issue is, whether its a hardware problem (some Austrian company said it was and then someone else said it wasn't), firmware, how it was formatted on a Mac (HFS+, APFS, etc etc), ... so again, I certainly wouldn't have this drive as the only backup of family photos kinda thing... or certain production runs ... and of course WD/Sandisk are denying most if not all...


It's a shame, and I'm probably an idiot for getting one... but using it in the "temp" data shuttle situation where backups are already prevalent... sigh...
