It means the compressor won't work in areas where the ambient temperature has extremes.

In the winter, the temperature differential might not be enough to keep the food cold. In the summer, the compressor can get overworked due to being too warm, which also results in it not cooling enough.

Generally speaking, modern fridges and chest freezers that aren't garage ready should never be used in the garage.

The only reason older fridges seemed to survive is because they used different coolant and insulating materials. When used improperly, they may not have died a sudden death like the new ones, but they definitely put a bigger dent in your electric bill.

I have it and it is worth even its normal price. Read the reviews before buying it! Shipping seemed to be a bad way to go, so I used SD to find a Walmart with one in stock and made the effort to go pick it up myself 40 minutes away. A 7.5 Cu ft fridge is small enough for 1 strong person to 2 average people to pick up on their own.

The fridge is well built and not noisy. More skinny than most other ones its size, but I like it since the height is slightly taller because of it.

Expect dents. Also frozen water froplets collect on back wall of fridge portion. Also I had mine set at level 3 and it froze my vegetables and milk

I bought it a month ago for my office, I love it. $90 to $150 for one more than half the size, this one is huge for just $50 more and works well. Mine arrived perfect but you could see inside the box and see the fridge and the Styrofoam is laughably thin, like 1/4" but it got to my office fine. I feel like maybe 5 to 10% of the time there could be damage during shipping but it's worth the chances if you need a small fridge.

I do lots of cooking, I stage food in the fridge and bike home with food or leave it in freezer. I had a 20lb turkey and a 10lb ham in the same time with lots of room, the shelf barely held the turkey but it did.

It went on sale recently and I got one.

It's great. Got it because my apt came with the same one but smaller. And both are super quiet. It looks good too.

However, it is kind of a gamble on how beat up it's gonna arrive. Walmart got rid of the dozens of photo review dents.
Mine arrived with a couple of dings but barely noticeable.

I cold smoke a lot of cheese in the winter and I've been seriously considering just buying a cheap fridge like this so I can do it all year and do less in the winter...I might grab this...or maybe I should buy an even cheaper used fridge

Not sure what temps you need, but would one of those convertible fridge/freezers with racks serve you better?

I'd think having one large compartment might give you more working space.

How many have they sold at the "normal" $500 price? For $500 it should be defrost free. $159 though is a good deal for an office in home second fridge. That said, it's now only available at $198.

Last time I ordered since it had dents they offered partial refund of $30 plus I have ivhabe a 3 year warranty. Not sure how that works if I needed to ship it back or what if it breaks down or has an issue eventually.
