ETA: Subject references remote not required and implies an easy unlock process. It was in January when I first took advantage of this promo. However, as of mid-March, the Moto servers many of the unlock code sellers have been using, have gone off-line - with no clear indication as to if/when they will be back up. So proceed with caution.
----------------
On-line, the promo is for $399, but in-store promo is $199 with port-in. My store required that I add insurance ($8/mo) and they required the $40 plan (vs. the $25 cheapest plan). As soon as I left the store, I called 611 and they removed the insurance (refunded the $8 as credit to next month) and said I could downgrade to the $25/mo plan in about 3-4 weeks (it was too recently activated to be changed).
I was able to source an eBay supplier of unlock codes, and despite many having hit a wall in this regard on the MEP 2022, the 2023 is was unlocked with a code I received in <5 min.
Downside: Boost stores do not allow buyers remorse returns. You buy it, it's yours. And short of a defective product, they will not accept returns. But to get a $600+ phone for $199, it was worth the gamble - and it paid off.
Call your closest store(s) and ask if they still have inventory of the MEP 2023. If they do, confirm that they're still honoring the $199 promo that started in May 2023. Each store I called said they would honor the promo, but only one store had any stock.
I'm looking but don't see what you're looking for. I am unlocked and moved back to Visible. Under settings mobile data, I don't see anything about sim/esim. Searched the settings for esim... nada. I can "choose network" which shows visible, att, us cellular, and a few other 6-digit numbers and their respective strengths.
I can turn off the Visible sim, which then kills all the other options on the page.
I don't see what your looking for, but it may just be that I'm looking in the wrong place. Maybe if I took the sim out? I don't have a tool to remove the tray ATM, else I would try.
No sadly boost mobile version has locked esim mode apparently. Unlocked version has sim and esim. 😥 I was just about to get the phone and unlock it like with the 2022 model. Thanks man it was really hard to get answer anywhere else.
Good luck, and post back here how it works out. I love the phone. There's literally nothing I would change about it. But still debating whether the juice was worth the squeeze.
hi thank you. i went to boost store next to me, they didnot have the device but they offered to order it if i just put 100 usd as down payment. the price was 249 + 35 activation fees + taxes. it is locked to them for 12 months but he menteiond something that worried me, he said it requries 12 month of servies i am not sure what he meant is it just ot unlook or to avoid being charged the full amount. in all cases thank you. it is still an amazing deal if they dont do the shady back charge.

12m? There's no contact for them to enforce that! The stores are always sketchy

It's 12 months of continuous service in order to unlock it. Are you planning on unlocking with eBay code? If so, please update how it goes. None of the stores near me have it, but I may have one ordered if the unlock codes still work.

at some point for sure it will be able to be unlocked thourgh ebay.
Tax on original price most likely. Otherwise wouldn't it be closer to $30-40 tax?
Yeah, and 35 activation fee also.
I gave up with the porting - and paid another $50 for getting a new number. I bought ebay tmobile numbers for porting but my boost store has to log into tmobiles site using the number, and obviously it doesnt work, and when trying to sign up for a tmobile myID account it has to verify by sending that number a code. So i tried everything and hit a wall. And gave up my precious $50 😒
I have given up on the 2023 getting unlocked. I still have an outstanding order with an eBay seller who believes he can unlock it once (if) the moto servers come back online. It's killing me to have a brand new warranty replaced 2023 in my kitchen drawer and can't use it.
I ordered new service with Boost in the hopes I could just use it with them while waiting for an unlock. However, the new replacement phone IMEI, while definitely a Boost locked phone, will not activate with Boost. I've tried with THREE separate orders with Boost. Their support just keeps cancelling the previous order, and sending me a new one (each time requiring a new email for registration). I don't know if the IMEI from Moto is tied to the original IMEI that I got on the promo phone for which I cancelled my account. Either way, they seem helpless to get it working.
Last night I replaced the cracked screen on wife's MEP2022. Was $80 from eBay. It came out perfectly and gave me the confidence to just get my own MEP2022. There's a seller on eBay that is selling them "new" unlocked for $265. Not as good as the $190 w/promo, but I'm done playing games.
It's a step backward from the 2023. But with the non-curved screen, and no noise-cancellation issues like I had with both the original 2023 and the warranty replacement - I think it's a worthwhile step back.
If, for some reason, the eBay seller manages to get a code that works, I'll start using it again. If not, then this the lumps. Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug. This time, I was the bug.
One thing is for certain, this was not worth the effort or time. And all because I sent my phone to Moto for a warranty issue. Never again on a hacked unlocked phone.
