I think that's going to be the case with most cool mist humidifiers. I make sure we empty ours every morning and let it dry out.

Every morning?? I use 3 of them with ONLY distilled water and don't clean them the whole winter season. A little scale but no mold inside at all. If I use tap water to wash it I make sure it's bone dry before filling it and never stick my hands inside the water tank. If you put tap or regular bottled water in it even once you need to dry it out and start again.
