Mulch usually goes on sale in warm climates FIRST

Home Depot also has mulch same price of $1.665 cuft
Scotts $2.50 for 1cu ft [homedepot.com]
Vigoro $3.33 for 2cu ft [homedepot.com] (already on sale some North)

If you plan on living at your house for a long time, better off biting the bullet now and just buy rocks/stones instead of mulch.
Did I hear a rock and stone?

My store even shows 2 cu ft.
WM beat them by 2 weeks w/the sale start date.

Might as well b a solution. In some cases.
Unless 1 wants 2 re-do the whole front yard this might not b an option.
Granted, 1 can totally (HOA/local regulations permitting) concrete/asphalt pave their whole lot around the house (who wants air anyway, right?). Yet that will eventually crack and sprout some greens and 'the 1' will still have 2 go outside 2 weed... Smilie

I ended up doing it early with wallyworld at $2.47 for 2cu. ft. I was one of the first ones in and the bags are fresh and mulch overall looks clean with very few large chunks and debris. These thing are regional anyways so they all (WM, HD, Lowe's store branded) come from the same few facilities who processes bulk mulch.

Obviously a typo, mulch is sold in 2 cu/ft. Bags...
Not all mulch is sold in 2-cu ft bags anymore. Most (not all) Scotts mulch is 1.5-cu ft. I think they changed it sometime during Covid as I had bought 2-cu ft bags of Scotts mulch at Tractor Supply and needed some more later and only found Scotts 1.5-cu ft bags at HD that year. But it seems that Scotts mulch have been 1.5-cu ft bags at HD and Lowes for the past several years.

As for the quality they all seem to be fairly good. For me the color retention is the most important and someone on here ( thanks to SD) had suggested to let mulch dry for 2 days after putting it down for the color to last longer. I think it says that also on the bag or I read it somewhere. And that has been my experience. When you put out mulch, it is initially wet out of the bag and the color seems to wash off if you have a downpour rain right after you put it down. By drying it out there is a higher chance that it will keep its color longer. So I time it by putting it around the yard when it could dry for 2 days and that seems to work. Seems to last almost a year, after a year I have not jet black but grayish black still.

Screw mulch, use pine shavings from TSC. Looks nicer and lasts a couple seasons and refreshing is cheap.

Maybe wasn't Scott's brand specifically but both Viagro & Lowe's Premium mulch (both with 12-month color guarantee) are 2cuft for $2/bag

I used this last year, and the quality really went downhill versus in years past.

1) I found a lot of metal and large chunks of wood in many bags.
2) The brown color washed out just after two months, making it an ugly gray color.

Told bad…I had been pretty happy with the Scott's mulch in the past. Going to go local and buy in bulk this year.
