I've been waiting for the PS5 + MW3 bundle to go on sale for $450. I think I last saw it on the PS5 direct website for $500 and checked back today to see it listed for $450.

$400 should be the standard for a 3.25 year old console by now
Anyone who thinks Microsoft is going to exit gaming anytime soon is an idiot. They'll spend another 500 billion before even considering it. Just think of how they just purchased Activision and what they went through for it
The ps5 sold like gangbustere when it first came out, but now it isn't selling good anymore so they're testing the waters on lower prices. plus rumors of the ps5 pro and no exclusive until 2025 aren't helping them either. Jim Ryan messed the company up so bad microsoft should send him a paycheck. The next guy they have lined up isn't any better.

I wonder if $450 is the new standard price for PS5 slim bundles (see Spider-Man 2 bundle at Best Buy) or if this is temporary.

Xbox series X is $350 on sale so you are not wrong.
But Microsoft can lose money on console sales, while Sony can't.

Yeah PS5 still beat Xbox Series X in console sale but the PS5 isn't doing better compared to last year and the previous. Ironically Sony is the one in pain not MS. Gaming subscription is one of Sony biggest challenges for months or years to come. And yes MS has it own problem to face but they're not worry about it as well? Both Sony and MS are in a strange unforeseen position in current gaming industry

Is it confirmed that MS is losing lots of money on a $350 priced console whereas Sony would still reap high profits on a $450 priced console?

Nope nothing is confirmed. In Microsoft earnings they show billions of revenue and profits from Xbox but we won't know if its from console or games sale (most likely from gamepass subscriptions).

Yes, mobile gaming took over - only 80 million consoles sold this gen. No doubt folks just wanted a PS5 for the subtle yet refined elegance it brings to their living room.

It blows the mind to think MS paid $75 billion for Activision Blizzard. It is inconceivable they would leave video gaming within 10-15 years minimum. It appears MS, Sony and Nintendo gaming business plans are as wide apart as they have ever been.

All that money they spent to acquire Activision and you think they're about to leave the console market? Nah.
