Well the BB employees are wrong. S89C has a qd oled panel while c3 has a wrgb panel. Qd oled is much brighter and has more color volume
Got cold feet last time, jumped in now! Lets see what this OLED mumbo jumbo is all about!
if i had both for the price you got the amazon deal... id keep the C3. can't believe i missed that one

+1 to this question. I still have time to cancel the Amazon order and grab this S89C. Brighter QD-OLED panel is enticing, but C3 is slightly cheaper ($1725, or $1640 with Prime card cash back).

C3 no question. LG has been in the game longer and makes a more reliable OLED, with better burn in mitigation. Dolby Vision is also a substantial upgrade once you have it (former Samsung owner here)

Samsung - QD Oled is brighter and has more vibrant colors vs the LG Oled.

You lose Dolby vision with Samsung but it's not a big deal and hardly noticeable. HDR10 looks better to me than Dolby vision anyways. In my opinion HDR10 is more vibrant, brighter etc.

The software of lg is a little nicer but tizen works fine and you can always hook up an Apple TV for software.

I currently have the s89c and it's amazing.

I'm a separate note I also ordered the 100 inch U8k Hisense mini led.

The Samsung has slightly better contrast and more accurate colors.

But the 100 inch Hisense screen and its immersion is absolutely worth keeping. The Hisense is brighter too. Never thought I'd buy and keep a Hisense TV.

If it wasn't for the 100inch screen I definitely keep the Samsung s89c and be very happy.
How's the HDR10+ capability that LG C3 doesn't have?
HDR10+ from Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, AppleTV+

Very small # of content.

Apple & Samsung - Scratch each other's back for a few pennies in the chips prices (HDDVD vs BlueRay rivalry days).

What kind of calibration are you guys using?

I followed l337fool's instructions and pretty happy with it however certain HDR content is so dark. For example Ozark on Netflix or TLOU2 on PS5 is so dark that I had to turn on constract enhancer to low to make it watchable. All energy saving settings are off.

Anyone else experiencing this?
The Samsung calibration in the SmartThings app seemed to work well for me, but that only affects movie mode and not game mode.

Game mode likely disables most of the processing so that you can get low latency.

So you have to pick you poison.

For watching, you'll obviously want to make sure the source is 4k+. If you're watching some compressed, 1080p garbage, the television will NOT shine.

Been gaming on a 48" C1 since 2020 or so. Been a fantastic experience and I can't go back. Have to keep earning money to keep up this lifestyle.

I just realized how goofy that stand is.

As goofy as the tiny nightstand with a giant TV on it.

That goes for any TV today! Only Sony oleds do the best job upscaling of older/SD content. Rest of the sets make dvd's look like cartoons!

Not buying this television to watch 1080p content.

I mean, if that's your thing that's cool. You could do the same for a lot cheaper though.

This is a really good TV. The Samsung S90C (which this TV really is besides the stand) has won a ton of editors choice awards. I came from an LG B8 55 inch to this TV. I think the LG has a better smart tv interface but that's just me but now I'm just using Chromecast for TV (may pick up an Apple Tv in future). I thought I would miss Dolby Vision but it's been a non issue.

1080 bluray have higer bitrates than most 4K streams.

I don't like using TV for upscaling. An apple tv or shield would do better upscaling than any tv you can buy today. But TVs have come a long way and some of them are really good,

Shield introduced AI upscaler 4-5 years ago. And now the same is being marketed as the biggest improvement in 2024. LGs.

I'm getting a sense some streaming services might be an issue ? Can anyone expand on that? Also, I noticed this in the BB compare to the S90C. Just preloaded services I assume listed, more can be added to the S89C?
Under Featured Streaming Services they listed this for the S89C: Apple Music, Apple TV+, Disney+, HBO Max, Netflix, Prime Video, Spotify, YouTube, YouTube TV
This for the 90...
Apple Music, Apple TV+, Disney+, ESPN+, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Music, HBO Max, Netflix, Prime Video, Sling TV, Spotify, YouTube, YouTube TV
