Out of spite I refuse to buy an SSD right now. This thing was like $100 a few months ago. I don't even care if prices are supposed to raise another 50%... I'll just delete games and reinstall them.

Lol same, waiting for them to be considered "overstocked" again.

Looks like Amazon is matching now:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...0DER&psc=1

But I will wait for a better deal since I don't need it just yet... maybe later this year if I decide to build a new machine... but then I'd prefer the 990 PRO.

Now that everything I've read said that drive speed doesn't really matter for gaming I've stopped looking at gen 5 drives and now just want a decent 4tb gen 4 that doesn't cost as much as a GPU lol.

any idea if this would work on an older B350 chipset AMD motherboard? I see some details about the PCI-E gen compatbility but it seems squishy

This thing only released in January 2024, and the 2TB model never was $100. So many people on SD are BS artists.

It would work, but there's no reason at all to get this for older chipsets. It is a very niche product, designed for the 3 or 4 specific scenarios where it kind of sort of make sense to use a "hybrid" Gen 5x2 PCIE drive. Almost everyone would be better served just getting a regular Gen 4x4 drive - even in the case of older Gen 3 chipsets (because Gen 3 drives are not really cheaper).

Link is also dead, Amazon's price is still matching but Newegg has substituted for a generic brand

Sorry I should clarify, by "this thing" I mean 2tb SSDs in general.
