Why I didn't like the Ecobee?
1. The temp of the unit was hot (yes electronics is hot), behind was insulated. I can set-the offset to adjust bla bla..
2. When I set the temp to e.g. 78 it would power cycle... get to that temp & power cycle / stop.. I had to adjust the offset again.. for temp, so if you set it to 78, make it go to 77 basically.
3. The info far as usage etc, it has a ton more info than Nest, however you HAVE TO LOG INTO YOUR Ecobee with a computer to see all of that. I don't really care about all the -analytics but I'd like to at least see e.g. like the Nest has.... shows AC / Heater ran for 3 hours yesterday on the app.
4. Note, Ecobee support was very helpful with my scenarios and such, I ultimately didn't feel like the Ecobee was worth $200+ & returned it to Costco. I had a Nest gen 1 and went back to a Nest Gen 3. I really like the Nest Gen 3 now. All in all, if you get the Ecobee, it is FULLY customizable & some of that customization, is needed to get it dialed in. Do you want to do / mess with that? Up to you. Hope this helps.
I think Ecobee really nailed it out of the park from the get go. IMO, it's superior to the Nest since you can more easily create schedules, had remote temperature sensors right away (took Google a long time to adopt that idea). My in-laws gave up on the Nest trying to learn their schedule, so it's just a glorified thermostat that they manually adjust every time. They work night shifts, but then some days the grandchildren go over so they're awake during the normal sleep period.

Also, when you do a HomeKit "announcement", it comes though on that speaker like it's a HomePod. Pretty unique.

Yes, I just installed 2 in my home last week and I have a heat pump. My advice is to take a picture of your control board wiring and match those wires up on the thermostat. Turns out the one I replaced wasn't wired entirely correct 👀
Ecobee Premium (includes 1 sensor) - $150
2 pack sensor - $99 ($50 each)
So to get the same equipment you have to spend 250 and get a third sensor vs 200 here for 2 sensors and Costco has an awesome return policy. That third sensor costs you 50 bucks whereas you can regularly find a 2 pack of sensors for 80 bucks.
Ecobee premium with 1 sensor usually retails for around 180-200. Getting an extra sensor for $0-20 is a good deal.
Maybe your idea of what's "warm" is driven by your house heating unevenly in which case an extra sensor would do you good.
