Asus Prime are solid boards, I have the big brother version of this and its been flawless in an OC gaming rig for over a year. Seeing this does make me take pride in my local microcenter though, their prices on mobos are always stellar.

Its the last good board for the 12th Gen Intels, and one of the first few to have the PCIe 5 too...Its a very futureproof, higher/mid range boards
Not so futureproof, as Intel is moving to LGA1851 later this year, meaning the 14th gen CPUs out now are the latest the board will ever accept.

My timing is unfortunate because I need to complete my build before LGA1851 is released, meaning no upgrade path later on.

Seen too many horror stories of AMD and motherboard compatability issues. Sometimes you'll just need to update the bios, which may be difficult if you don't have a working cpu read with the motherboard.

I'll stick with overpriced Intel for that peace of mind Smilie

Anecdotally, I bought this board recently and paired it with an i5-14500. It booted fine, but it's recommended to update to the latest-ish BIOS for full 14th gen support. (Super easy with spare computer and flash drive)

Had some issues getting XMP to work with Patriot and GSkill ram (2x 32gb) pairs. The GSkill was listed on their compatibility site. Ended up trying with Kingston 96gb set, (also on their site) and the XMP profile loaded. So mile may vary. Not sure if it's mobo, bad ram, or what.

But it's hauling ass as a ZFS and Plex server.

No complaints - plus it has a 2.5Gb Ethernet port.

Because Intel is for noobs. You know how Apple is so expensive because everything is dumbed down and simple? Same with Intel.

AMD is for computer enthusiasts who are able to setup their own hardware. AMD encourages overclocking and customization.

I wouldn't stay with asus, purchased the asus rog stric 650e, and had nothing but problems. I just replaced it with msi mag 670e, and out of the box, it's already better.

I had issues ranging from memory, gpu, and network with the asus board. I was willing to accept the memory and then the ethernet port problems, but the gpu issues started to bother me.
Maybe since I bought mine from iBuypower it was already tested.

If we are going with anecdotal (nothing wrong w that) than I'll just throw out my counter to this. Have had an ASUS Z87-A, running a 4th gen i5 for like 10+ years now and it's still going strong despite my abuse (spilled drinks on it twice while running). I also recently bought a refurb ASUS B550 PRIME Plus board that has been great so far.
I feel you bro. I am typing this on my aged PC using the same ASUS Z87-A mobo, and 4th gen i7 (instead of the i5). Also with an ASUS TURBO-GTX960-OC-4GD5 video card. The only thing I have had to replace on this comp since it was built ~10 years ago was the power supply.
That being said, I am waaaaay overdue for an upgrade and am starting to price things out. Video card prices suck nowadays. At least I work for Intel and can get any CPU for half price, which saves a few hundred dollars to offset other costs.

I bought this board and paired it with a 13th gen i5 Intel chip last summer...I have been very pleased with the setup. Been rock solid.

I've been using this board for a few months now. It's great and has really good support from ASUS. There's been a few updates for it.

This is Asus's low-end branding. As such it's going to have only acceptable VRMs. If you plan on just popping a chip in and using it, it is fine. It's doesn't look like it has any of the advanced BIOS restoration and update features either. You get what you pay for, but this is a lot of board form your money.
