Most of these just have up to 10A (120W) which limits their use for RV/camping where you sometimes need higher amps.
I'd like to replace two huge/heavy AGM batteries with something like this, but the 12V output is a problem as you can't start the generator or extend an awning etc.

What are you plugging into the 12v port?
In an RV, this is typically the fridge, lights, fans, propane solenoid, etc. You can't run the A/C off a small battery like this.

I'd like to use it at home off of solar as a backup of sorts and it would seem that you can just plug these in straight to solar panels (500watts X2)? and eliminate the need for charge controllers, inverters and batteries.

Just need to match the input voltage with the output voltage of your panels so you don't fry the controller.

You would only be able to use one, solar input is capped at 500w for this unit.

You may consider replacing the AGM batteries and with 12V LFP batteries with 100A continuous output ( or 200A with 2 parallel). LFP batteries are a lot cheaper now.
The device you are referring to is the older model. The delta 2 and delta 2 max have a longer life span.
